His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, the 14th Asagba of Asaba, has been celebrated as a symbol of distinction and exceptional service as he marks his 70th birthday.
Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and prominent APC chieftain, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, gave the commendation at a reception held to round off the monarch’s platinum jubilee festivities.
Ochei traced the Asagba’s lifelong record of excellence to his early years, noting his emergence as Senior Prefect at St. Patrick’s College, Asaba. He further highlighted the monarch’s sterling academic career at the University of Benin, where he lectured in law and later became Dean of the Faculty of Law—roles in which he consistently stood out for brilliance and intellectual depth.

Ochei, who also heads the Nigerian Tennis Federation (NTF), lauded Prof. Azinge’s illustrious legal career, noting his elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his service as a two-term Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
He added that the Asagba brought international honour to Nigeria as the first African to serve both as a Judge and President of the Commonwealth Arbitral Tribunal.
Expressing confidence in the monarch’s leadership, Ochei said the values, wisdom and character the Asagba brings to the throne will continue to inspire progress in the Asaba Kingdom. He prayed for a reign defined by peace, stability and prosperity.
