In a statement issued on Thursday, Omo-Agege said his attention was drawn to comments made by the governor during a lecture in Lagos titled “Inclusive Governance and National Unity: Lessons from Delta State for a United Nigeria,” where the 2023 election was referenced.
He noted that while he might have responded strongly in the past as a political opponent, the current reality of both leaders belonging to the same party requires a different approach.
According to him, the priority for the APC in Delta State is unity rather than division. He emphasized his commitment to securing electoral victories for all APC candidates in future elections, from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to state-level contenders.
Omo-Agege acknowledged that the 2023 governorship election had been conclusively settled by the Supreme Court, stressing that its ruling remains final. He reiterated his respect for the judgment and cautioned against revisiting the issue in public discourse.
He also congratulated Governor Oborevwori once again on his victory, noting that the election results reflected over 360,000 votes across 21 local government areas. At the same time, he expressed pride in the more than 240,000 votes he secured in four Delta Central local government areas, thanking his supporters for their backing.
The former lawmaker said his focus since May 29, 2023, has been on strengthening party unity, adding that he remains committed to that objective. He urged the governor, as the leader of the APC in Delta State, to work collaboratively toward reconciliation, inclusion, and healing within the party.
Omo-Agege stressed that only a united APC can deliver electoral success in 2027, including victories for President Tinubu and other party candidates. He revealed that he had made a commitment to both the president and Vice President Kashim Shettima to work with the governor to unify the party ahead of the next general elections.
Addressing his supporters, he encouraged them to remain positive, avoid divisive rhetoric, and take pride in his legislative achievements during his time in the National Assembly.
He highlighted his role in facilitating key institutions and projects, including the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun; the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun; the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale; the Oil and Gas Industrial Park; and the Nigerian Defence Space School in Delta State.
He described these as verifiable accomplishments reflecting a legacy of impactful leadership, expressing confidence that more could be achieved with renewed public support in 2027.
Omo-Agege concluded by urging party members and supporters to embrace unity, emphasizing that cohesion within the APC is essential for future success.
