The Olu of Warri , His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse the III has reiterated support in host community development Trust fund.
He disclosed this to Chief Ogunnubi Olusegun Benjamin ,Head , Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission , Warri Regional Office and his entourage in a courtesy visit at his palace on Thursday , 25th May , 2023.
The Head, NUPRC , Warri Regional office stressed the importance of the trust fund hinged on 3 percent for development of the community.
He said the Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) created by the Petroleum Industry Act ( PIA) also gave rise to host community development trust fund for the company to put the communities together to pull a trust in which 3percent of their expenditure will be used to develop the community.
He opined that if 10 of these communities do not form a trust fund, the bulk of funds will be used for projects defined by the host community .
He expressed concern on cooperation of the Ugborodo community and the seeming smooth running of Escravos operations.
The Ogiame disclosed that the Ugborodo community participated in previous meeting and had the largest number of individuals across the three trustees and representatives of the advisory committee ( Chevron, offshore, onshore and Shell) .
He however sued for transparency and a meeting of the commission with all stakeholders for felt needs and findings.
The Olu of Warri offered blessings and his unreserved assistance and support base to Chief Ogunnubi Olusegun Benjamin.
The visit included , Dr. David Michaels, Mr. Toms , Head of Development, Engr. Martins Adedayo , Head Production , Dr. Mohammed Lamida , Head of production, gas , NUPRC, Mr. Tobechi Nri,
Manager ,Environment and Community.
Others are Mrs Akpojisheri ,Head of public Affairs Unit, Miss Dew Jemima Wilson ,General Manager Mega FM Warri, Mr. Shanni Peace, Transport/ logistics Mega Fm, Mr Isaac Lori , Mr Henry Lori and Engr. Landon .
